I am currently a communications major at the University of Dayton. However, I was a graphic design major during my freshman year. It was a difficult decision for me to switch majors from a study I was passionate about to a study that I also enjoyed but could myself having more of a future with. The university has an excellent art program, and is not for those who do not plan to work hard. At first sight, graphic design does not seem like a particularly difficult major, however there were plenty of nights I stayed at the art building until three or four in the morning, only to wake up for a nine in the morning studio class. I loved the subjects we learned about, but the overload of work was killing me. I was in a 2D design class, photography class, and sketch class, which does not sound like a lot, but you have to factor in that each of these classes were three hours long, and expected twice that much time to be used outside of class to work on homework. Huge assignments would be given on a Monday and would be expected to be done by Wednesday, a task that my general education courses would not attempt even with much easier assignments. By the time second semester came around, I was not enjoying my major, and it became more of a burden than an enjoyable educational experience. That was when I considered switching majors, which became only more clear when a former graphic design student gone communications major encouraged me to make the switch. In retrospect, I can appreciate the fact that my school has a wonderful art program, specifically graphic design, with professors who genuinely want you to succeed. However, I was not the 'art student' type who could run on days without sleep in order to work on a project, and I could not see me having a career in this field. Communications was definitely the right choice for me, and I still enjoy art on the side

When I tell people that I draw sketches for tattoos, there are a lot of misconceptions that I am actually tattooing the person themselves. I want to reiterate to anyone viewing this site that I am not a tattoo artist, but I would be more than happy with sketching up an idea or two. So far, I've drawn ideas for two people, one being a friend and the other being a total stranger who contacted me on Instagram. The picture on the left is a simple tattoo design I drew for my friend. He showed me an idea he had found online and I drew up about ten sketches for him to look at, with this one being the one he chose.
